Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is CoolSculpting right for me?
A: If you have noticeable bulges in some areas that you’d like to eliminate, then Yes. Unlike bariatric surgery, it’s not a total weight loss solution. But it is a safe, non-surgical alternative to liposuction. Request a free consultation to determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.
Q: What does it feel like?
A: When the procedure begins, you’ll feel pressure from the device, and intense cold in that area. But that will soon dissipate and you can relax and do anything that you’d normally be able to do while sitting still. Some people even take a nap while being treated!
Q: Where does the fat go?
A: Once the CoolSculpting device kills the fat cells, your body naturally eliminates them. And once they’re gone, they’ll never return!
Q: Is this process safe?
A: The CoolSculpting procedure has been FDA-approved for the abdomen, thighs, and flank (love handles). More than a million CoolSculpting treatments have been performed worldwide; so it’s been proven to be a safe and effective method of non-surgical fat reduction.
Q: How long is each session and how many treatments will I need?
A: That will vary, depending upon how many areas you want treated. Together, we’ll create a tailored treatment plan, designed to accomplish your specific goals. More than one session may be necessary to accomplish the results you desire.
Q: Can I go back to work after the procedure?
A: Since CoolSculpting is not a surgical procedure, yes you can.
Q: How soon will I see results?
A: You can see the changes in your body in as little as three weeks after the procedure. But you’ll notice the most dramatic results after about two months. And your body will continue flushing out dead fat cells for as long as four to six months after your treatment.
Q: Do I need to take any special supplements or follow a strict diet?
A: No, you don’t. However, many patients are more motivated after the procedure to take better overall care of their body. It’s as if they have a “new lease on life”, so they want to do the best they can for their themselves and their “new body”.
Q: What happens if I gain weight later?
A: Once you see the dramatic results from the CoolSculpting procedure, you’ll probably want to take even better care of yourself. But if you do gain weight, you’ll most likely gain it evenly all over your body.
Q: What are the side effects?
A: While the CoolSculpting device is working, you may experience a pulling or tugging sensation. You may also feel a pinching sensation, numbness, or slight pain. Afterwards, temporary side effects may include numbness, swelling, redness, bruising, tingling or stinging, firmness in the area, or mild pain. Rare side effects may also occur. (Ask your consultant if you’re concerned.) CoolSculpting is not for everyone and it’s not a treatment for obesity. You should not have the CoolSculpting procedure if you’ve been diagnosed with cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. As with any medical procedure, ask us if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.
Q: How much does this procedure cost?
A: The price for CoolSculpting varies, depending upon how many areas you want treated and the number of sessions you’ll need to accomplish your goals. Together, we’ll design a customized treatment plan that will fit your goals and budget. Financing is available for all our patients.
