At Medical Weight Loss of Colorado, we know how many questions our clients have about weight loss. It’s a complex topic with a lot of conflicting information. There’s always something going on, and you might not always have the time to come into our clinic with your ques-tions. That’s why we created our Online Dietitian Support program.
How the Program Works
Most diet plans, grocery lists, and food lists are just temporary measures. We want to help you achieve permanent change. The key to any diet and exercise plan is sticking to it. Our approach at Medical Weight Loss of Colorado is to create long-term habits of health that will support you long after you’ve stopped taking medication.
We do this by pairing you with one of our certified dietitians. Psychological research has shown that having social support on your weight loss journey gives people a higher level of success. That’s why we don’t offer “virtual” dietitians or educational computer programs. We offer real people you can talk to anytime.
Our solutions are not one-size-fits-all. Just as your spirit is unique, your body is unique. Weight loss, like weight gain, is a slow and steady process. Instead of diet plans or deprivation, we work with you to reveal which habits would be best for your health. We help you cultivate great habits, taking all aspects of your well-being into account.
Every two weeks, you and your dietitian will create one or two achievable goals. Focus on these goals and habits between sessions and report back on the results. These bite-sized health habits give you time to focus on changing just a few behaviors to the point they feel comfortable before adding more.

What are the types of goals I can expect?
Goals like “I want to lose weight” are too broad and don’t work. We help you devise SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound), which are far more likely to create lasting success.
While there are some people who can make massive life changes in one go, they are the exceptions. Most people need small changes over time to create a lasting habit.
For instance, if you needed to drink more water a poor goal would be “I will drink more water” or “I will stop drinking soft drinks.” A SMART goal would be “I will replace one soda with a glass of water every day for the next two weeks.”
As you achieve your goals, you and your dietitian will build on the progress you’ve made until you reach the level of health you’re seeking. We have found that working with a professional over time like this is a sure method. It’s much like training with a coach. You’ll start with basics and, over time, you’ll find following healthy habits that may seem impossible now.
