It’s surprising and frightening at just how bad things have become in America. Insulin helps to regulate our blood sugar levels, everyone knows this. But what a lot of people are surprised to hear is that insulin also serves another incredible purpose. Insulin is a hormone that helps to facilitate the transportation of triglycerides (fat!) in to our fat cells to be stored later for energy. If you have an overproduction of insulin, this could induce a terrible cycle where your fat cells become locked away – that stored energy unable to be released, and your body just doesn’t know what to do, and you get that sugar craving once again. It is an incredibly vicious cycle.
